Juan Tanba-yaki kiln introduction

The unique design as well as square plate which draws a subtle line and peculiar shape pottery, Juan is on of unique kiln in Tanba.
Juan’s owner welcomed us pleasantly.
I visited a workshop and a kiln as well as a gallery.

The climbing kiln which is tradition from the old days by Tanba-yaki pottery, is used once or twice a year.
The owner said that he uses a gas kiln or an electric kiln nowadays.


A garden is made beautifully. It’s a climbing kiln that behind of a stone wall sees.


I Bought some light blue square plates. They are fabulous beyond description.
